Loanhead’s Working, Playing and Learning Together "Log Cabin Project" is another step closer for Loanhead Community Learning Centre! (12th March 2010)
Loanhead Community Learning Centre are delighted to announce that the Roberson Trust and LEADER have agreed to committed funding to our Log Cabin Project; The Loanhead Working, Learning and Playing Together Project. Robertson Trust commitment of £80,000 along with funding of £100,000 from the LEADER Fund will enable us to move another step closer to completing our funding package to build our £1.2 million pound project within Loanhead Community Garden. The Log Cabin will help host both our existing community groups from babies through to senior citizens as well as new groups and local schools. This will enable us to offer better equipped available accommodation such as Sight & Sound recording studio, arts 'n' crafts room, project room, gallery café, soft play area, sensory room, Training kitchen, environmental "green" room and a charity shop to the community. We will provide bigger and better accommodation to our existing partners and will be open all year round. Planning permission has also been granted.
Once we have the last few funders on board, we hope to open the new facility at the beginning of next year whilst still maintaining the original centre building. We are now so near for this exciting project to now become a reality. Centre Manager Irene Hogg said "This is fantastic news we are delighted that The Roberson Trust and LEADER have joined our other funders in committing to support this unique and innovative project that will be with out a doubt a fantastic asset for the community of Loanhead and the surrounding areas. Loanhead Community Learning Centre has worked tirelessly over the past 2 years to make this dream become a reality. We hope to secure all remaining funding by May 2010. I would like to say a big thank you to the Board and staff for all their support and to our funders who have made the commitment to our vision."
